I remember the day I got this tattoo. Like most of my tattoos it was in the moment or I was in the moment. Luckily, my boy and artist Danny always takes care of me!My world had just been turned upside down, you can say I am slightly dramatic like King David, and I was heartbroken. I was at a crossroads, I could have either responded in a justified anger or be what is truer to myself and respond in understanding and mercy. How is anger justified? Really anger is a form of unprocessed or unresolved pain. I was hurting, I was hurt. There was deceit and broken trust, and to my own fault a lot of unmet expectations. As I was so caught up in my own sorrow and hurt I remembered these words “Stay Gold” and I knew exactly what they meant in that moment. For me, it meant I can sit there in my alleged justified anger and pain or I can be true to myself and seek to understand and love. I chose to stay gold.To be honest, it was hard as hell! Everyone around me thought I was crazy. My friends saw my pain but also saw what I was trying to do, they could not understand how or why I would choose to allow what hurt me so deeply still remain in my life. It was these 2 things:1- People are not their mistakes. People can make bad decisions and even hurtful ones but it does not mean that they are bad or hurtful.2- Staying Gold for me means remain unstoppable in loving someone regardless of the circumstances. #StayGold #TheOutsiders #Tattoos #FlashbackFriday #FollowFriday
